SATRA. NO TYPICAL ELF

To inhabit Satra, Sara knew she had to mold herself into a warrior, and after over three years of preparation, this became a commitment that stretched far beyond the boundaries of a shooting schedule.

Sara has been working with Larry Perry (Creator, Writer, Director, and Producer of the Project) for over three years, and as she has deeply connected with the character, she has also come to understand the unique challenges that come with being a black woman cast as the lead in an action, fantasy, sci-fi film.  Sara made lifestyle changes to include constant travel, special skills training, and a strict workout schedule.

The transformation to connect to Satra has directly linked the physical, mental, and spiritual into a tapestry of depth and color.

In the world of method acting, the act of transformation is a revered and esoteric process. It is not a mere portrayal of another’s life but the discovery of new layers of her personality. For Sara, exploring the greater spirituality of Satra, being a princess, and warrior and devoted to her morals has opened room for meditation, she has practiced yoga,  finding peace in the stillness and harmony in the movement. Each spiritual exercise wasn’t just in service of Satra; it was a delineation of Sara’s quest to understand her character, and perhaps herself, in a profound existential way.
